Alene Alice (Harman) Loghry, age 78, of Edison, Nebraska, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. She was born in Holdrege, Nebraska on September 3, 1945, to John Harman and Rachel (Post) Harman.
Alene was baptized at Edison Christian Church when she was a child. Her parents farmed north of Edison, Nebraska prior to moving to Edison, Nebraska in 1949.
After graduating from Edison High School in 1963, Alene attended McCook Community College. She then worked for McCook Hospital and Nursing Home. She married Leroy Loghry in McCook on June 12, 1964.
Alene and Leroy resided in McCook where they raised one son – John. She also worked for Family Planning for 10 years while raising John, and the rest of the time a homemaker. Alene was also very active with all of John’s sporting events, and Leroy’s full-time military career in McCook. In May of 1991 Leroy retired from the military and they moved to Edison to retire where she resided until her death.
Alene loved animals, especially cats. She would literally drive the town looking for animals in need to help them at any cost. She also was very close with John’s classmates from McCook High School. She was known as the “Class Mom”. She spent a lot of time in her grandkids lives; such as attending all of their events of any kind no matter where they were, to even teaching them how to drive on the farm.
Alene was preceded in death by her parents John Harman (1991), and Rachel Post Harman (1981). She is survived by her husband Leroy Loghry of Edison, Nebraska, her son John Loghry of Omaha, Nebraska, granddaughter Amanda Davis of Phoenix, Arizona, grandson Brad Loghry of Lawrence, Kansas, great granddaughter Hunter Loghry of Lawrence, Kansas, and sister-in-law Mary Anne O’dea of Omaha, Nebraska.
