Arliss L. Kinder, age 84, of Arapahoe, Nebraska passed away on Friday, September 25, 2020 at her granddaughter’s home in Cozad, Nebraska. She was born on November 20, 1935 at Arapahoe, Nebraska to Eli M. and Ethel (Scott) Brown. She grew up on a farm north of Arapahoe, graduating from Arapahoe High School with the class of 1953. She married Norman Kinder on April 14, 1957 in Arapahoe, Nebraska. They moved to Norman’s family farm south of Holbrook where they lived for almost 50 years. To this union three children were born; Valerie, Duane, and Daralis. She also worked for Holbrook Public Schools as the school cook and for the State of Nebraska Department of Tourism as a guide at the rest stop along Interstate 80 by Brady, Nebraska. In February of 2005, her husband Norman passed away. Arliss would then move to Sunshine Village in Arapahoe. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Arapahoe, United Methodist Women and also served as an officer and district officer. She enjoyed going to the Arapahoe Senior Center and following her children and grandchildren in all of their activities. She is survived by her daughter Valerie (Alex) Difuntorum of Lincoln, Nebraska, son Duane Kinder (Rhonda) of Broken Bow, Nebraska, and daughter Daralis Kinder of Overland Park, Kansas, sister Verna Rae Horton of Arapahoe, Nebraska, grandchildren: Jamie (Paul) Fotchman, Heather (Michael) Garcia, Great-Grandchildren: Kaden Garcia, Ethan Garcia, Rori Geesey, Emmalyn Grace Fotchman, Paul Isaac Fotchman and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Norman, sister Janice (Bill) Harrington, brother-in-law Dan Horton. Viewing and visitation will be Tuesday, September 29, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Wenburg Funeral Chapel, 652 Main St., Arapahoe, Nebraska. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. Becky Saddler, officiating and will also be lived streamed on “Arapahoe FUMC” Facebook page. Interment will be at Arapahoe Cemetery, Arapahoe, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences or personal reflections can be left at wenburgfuneralhome.com.
