Beaver City, Nebraska Bonnie Bess Hunt, age 88, of Beaver City, Nebraska died Sunday, Febr 25, 2007 at the Beaver City Manor at Beaver City, Nebraska. She was born August 21, 1918 at Beaver City to Dieder & Frieda (Mehner) Winter. She was a life long resident of Furnas County, Nebraska. She graduated from Beaver City High School with the class of 1936. She attended Kearney State College in 1936. She taught country school Southwest of Beaver City, Nebraska in 1937 & 1938. She married Abel D. Newton on April 28, 1938, he died May 15, 1942. She lived west of Orleans for 3 years after Abel's death. She married Merle R. Hunt on March 24, 1945 at Ft Hood, Texas . In 1946 the family moved to a farm east of Beaver City where they farmed until December of 1976 when they retired and moved into Beaver City. Her husband Merle died Dec 4, 1983. Bonnie moved to Beaver City Manor and Assisted Living in August of 2002. She was a member of Hollinger United Methodist Church where she was treasurer for many years. She also was a member of Hollinger United Methodist Women and Eldeen Club. She was a past board member of Union Cemetery. Preceded in death by parents, husband Abel Newton, and Merle Hunt. Grandson Rick Hunt, two daughter-in-laws; Cyd Hunt and Meg Hunt. Sister-in-laws; Bernice Hunt and Bertha Hathaway. Brother-in-laws; Charles Hunt, Lee Hunt, Glenn Hathaway and niece Velda Hathaway. Survivors include ; 3 Sons: Terry Newton of Beaver City, Nebraska Allen Hunt of Holdrege, Nebraska Dennis Hunt & wife Sandi of Alma, Nebraska 1 Daughter: Sharon & husband Dave Hyke of Hendley, Nebraska Grandchildren: 8 (Amber Newton of Beaver City; Stacie Hunt of Holdrege, Nebraska, Jenny & husband Justin Scott of Grand Island, NE; Kevin Hunt & wife Lori of Axtell, Nebraska, Ryan Hunt and wife Erika of Beaver City, NE; Kelly and husband Doran Soncksen of Burlington, Co; Bruce Hyke of Wilsonville, NE and Kerrie Hyke of Lincoln, NE.) Great-Grandchildren: 7 (Ethan and Olivia Hunt, Mackenna and Kolby Hunt, Kailen and Myranda Soncksen and Jenessa Sacco. Step-Grandchildren: 2 (Jolena and husband Monty Bose of Stamford, NE, Jeni and husband Mike Brown of Elm Creek, NE) Step-Great Grandchildren: 7 (Brenden, Kristyn, Cassi and Ann D. Bose and Shelbi, Emme and Ashley Brown Sisters-in-Laws; Mildred Hunt of Orleans, NE and Virginia Hunt of Beaver City, Nebraska. Viewing and visitation will be Tuesday, February 27, 2007, 1 PM until 8 PM and Wednesday, 9 AM until 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City, Nebraska and prior to services Thursday at the church. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 1, 2007 at 1:30 PM at First Christian Church in Beaver City, Nebraska with Pastors Phil Olsen and Linda Knipping, officiating.
