Carolyn Anne Wentling

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carolyn Anne Wentling, of Beaver City, Nebraska, on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at the Norton County Hospital, Norton, Kansas.

Carolyn was born on October 25, 1935, in Beaver City, Nebraska to William A. and Hazel G. Noel. She grew up on a farm west of Beaver City called Horton’s Park and graduated from Beaver City High School with the class of 1953. In October of 1953, Wiley’s mother, Alma and his aunt Emma Wentling accompanied Carolyn to Fayetteville, North Carolina where she married Wiley Wentling on October 29, 1953, who at the time was training in the 82nd Airborne squad in North Carolina. After Wiley’s honorable discharge in 1956, they came back to Nebraska.

Carolyn worked in the office at the Beaver City sale barn before becoming deputy Furnas County Accessor and later the County Accessor. She used to make the remark, “I sat in the same chair for almost 50 years.” Carolyn and Wiley also had a ceramic business called “Clay Barn,” in which they sold ceramic dolls and figurines. Carolyn was blessed with a talent for painting, sewing, drawing, and designing ceramic dolls, and repairing mannequins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Myrtle Lucile Preston, Donna Faye Connell and brother, Willis Henry Noel, and husband Wiley.

Survivors include, Rebecca Carol and husband Leonard Massey of Arizona, Valerie Lynn and husband Orly Stolts of Florida, and Linda Kaye Wentling of Kansas, five grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lord, grant eternal rest to Carolyn and may the memories of her life bring comfort to those left behind. Amen.

Graveside Memorial service will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Beaver City, Nebraska at a later date.
