Cletus E Coffey, 89, of Beaver City, Nebraska died Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Kearney Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 16, 1934, in Oxford Nebraska to Wendell & Virginia (Harlan) Coffey.
He was raised in Beaver City, Nebraska and became a life-long resident, husband, father and business owner. After graduating Beaver City High School with the class of 1952, Cletus joined the family business, ‘Coffey Service Station’, and married his wife and future mother of his children, Karen Volgamore on June 11, 1961. He volunteered as a fireman for Beaver City, enjoyed family and friends at Johnson’s Lake on summer weekends and was a member of the Beaver City Presbyterian Church. When his father Wendell retired in 1972, Cletus purchased and operated his father’s service station until retiring in 1989, after which he and Karen enjoyed many years of fun wintering in Texas. He is loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
Cletus is survived by his wife Karen Coffey of Beaver City Nebraska; sister Deanna Hotchkiss; son Cyle Coffey and his wife Lola, daughter Rita Vaughn, grandchildren Jocelyn Stern and her husband Max, Larissa Coffey, Cassie Myers and her husband Marcus, and 3 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents Wendell & Virginia Coffey, sister Jacqueline Mahar, and son Darcy Coffey.
