Dean Erwin McCoy, age 81, of Arapahoe, Nebraska died on Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Cambridge Hospital, in Cambridge, Nebraska. He was born on February 6, 1931 to Stanley Pine and Ethel May (Holloway) McCoy at the family farm south of Holbrook, Nebraska.
He began his grade school days at District #36 south of Holbrook. The family moved to Oregon in 1940 and returned to live in Arapahoe when Dean was in the 8th grade. He graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1948. After graduation Dean farmed with his father, Stanley and older brother, Leland. He was called to serve his country in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean Conflict. Dean married Fern Monasmith on August 17, 1958 at Zion Lutheran Church in Imperial, Nebraska. In 1958 he was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe. They were blessed with four children: Marla Ann, Robin Kim, Sue Ellen, & Timothy Dean. They all grew up on the family farm south of Arapahoe where he enjoyed the busy farm life and was active in his church, American Legion Post #96, 4-H leader of the Busy Bees Club, and Boy Scout leader. They moved to Arapahoe in 1998. His greatest joy was visiting with his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Leland McCoy, grandsons Hayden Dean McCoy and Richard Jay Lambert.
He was survived by his wife Fern McCoy of Arapahoe, Nebraska

Sue & husband Harley Dean Lambert of Arapahoe, Nebraska
Sons: Robin & wife Maricar McCoy of Murrieta, California
Tim & wife Diane McCoy of Hickman, Nebraska
Grandchildren: Danielle& Brian Prusa; Ellisa, Trevor, Colton & Jenna McCoy; Ashleigh Golgart & Cameron Lambert;
Great-Grandchild: Jaxon Golgart.
Sister-In-Laws: Donna McCoy & Joan (Boyd) Mathews.
Brother-In-Law: John Monasmith & Don & wife Amy Monasmith.
Special Niece: Ronna & husband Joe Kutlas: Nephew: Allan & wife Sally McCoy and many other relatives and friends.

Viewing and visitation will be Monday, January 28, 2013 from 10 AM till 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe, Nebraska and prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. James Moshier, officiating. Burial will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery, Arapahoe, Nebraska with military rites given by the American Legion Post #96 of Arapahoe, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home, of Arapahoe, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
