Della Fae “Peg” Ziebell

Della Fae “Peg” Ziebell, age 95, of Arapahoe, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018 at C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center, Arapahoe, Nebraska. She was born on January 1, 1923 at Republican City, Nebraska to John Oscar and Sophia (Buhler) Watts, but raised by her mother and Edward Bengston. She grew up on a farm in Gosper County, Nebraska. In 1942, she went to Seattle, Washington and worked at Boeing Aircraft (working on B-17). She enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp in April of 1944. Serving two years before being honorably discharged in April of 1946. She married Herbert Ziebell on August 21, 1946. To this union four children were born; Karen, Norma Jean, Craig, and Steven. Peg and Herb ran a tavern in Holbrook for seven years from 1956 to 1963. They would then move to a farm east of Arapahoe were they operated a dairy farm. Peg also worked for 25 years at Irene’s Style Shop in Arapahoe. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Arapahoe American Legion and Legion Auxillary. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Herb, son Steven, sister Maxine Breinig and husband Raymond “Bud”, and brother Wayne Watts and wife Beverly. She is survived by her daughters: Karen & husband Irv Walbridge of Edison, Nebraska Norma Jean Ziebell of Aurora, Colorado Son: Craig & wife Leane Ziebell of Ellicott City, Maryland Grandchildren: Grant, Cole, Derek, and Garth Walbridge, Elycia Asmus, Alex Read Great-Grandchildren: Lincoln, Kennedy, Kadence, and Step-Great Granddaughter: Haley Memorials are suggested to the Arapahoe American Legion. Memorial services will be Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Wenburg Funeral Chapel, 652 Main St., Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. Becky Saddler, officiating. Inurnment will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery, Arapahoe, Nebraska. Military rites given by Arapahoe American Legion and U.S. Marine Corp Honor Guard.
