Don J. Antrobus, age 97, of Arapahoe, Nebraska died on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at the C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center, in Arapahoe, Nebraska. He was born on June 7, 1914 at Norton, Kansas to Ora D. and Lulu E. (West) Antrobus.
He attended school at District #3 rural school east of Norton and attended Norton High School. After school he began apprentice work at a print shop. In 1932, he became full-time at the Norton Daily Telegram and worked there until 1950. He would then move to Beaver City, Nebraska and work at the Times-Tribune and farmed and cared for livestock. In 1953, he began working for the Arapahoe Public Mirror. He became plant manager in 1974 and wrote a column in the paper called “From the Backshop”. On October 25, 1958 he married Myrtle Mues-Huxoll. In 1992 he received the Pica Pole Award for his 69 years of service in the newspaper business, which was awarded by the Nebraska Press Association. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #96, Izaak Walton League, all of Arapahoe, and the National Rifle Association.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Myrtle, daughter Anita Marie Antrobus, son Lynn Huxoll
He is survived by sons: Quinton Huxoll of Culbertson, Nebraska
Ervin Huxoll & wife Cindy of Arapahoe, Nebraska
Daughter: Connie Sue of California
Daughter-In-Law: Jeanette Huxoll of Arapahoe, Nebraska

Viewing and visitation will be Friday, February 10, 2012 from 10 AM till 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe, Nebraska and prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 1:30 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. James Moshier, officiating. Burial will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery, Arapahoe, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home, of Arapahoe, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
