Beaver City, NE Donald G. Gardner, age 83, of Beaver City, Nebraska died Monday, July 16, 2007 at Norton County Hospital at Norton, Kansas. He was born July 28, 1923 in Gosper County, Nebraska to George & Daisy (Morse) Gardner. He was a life long farmer in Furnas & Gosper Counties. He attended county school in Gosper County. He served 32 months in the US Air Force during WWII. He flew 50 missions in Italy as a tail gunner. Don received his Purple Heart from injuries on March 30, 1944. He married Norma Lea David on August 30, 1944 at Norton, Kansas. They moved to their present farm NW of Beaver City in 1947 and continued to farm until his death. Don received the Beaver-Sappa SWCD Conservation award in 1965. He served on the Edison Coop board for 3 years, he spent 6 years on board of directors at Hendley Elevator and 8 years on Arapahoe Coop board. He attended McCook Christian Church in McCook, Nebraska. Preceded in death by Parents, Brothers: Vernon and Duane Survivors include: Wife Norma of Beaver City, Nebraska 2 Daughters: Janet & husband Ron McClain of Beaver City, NE Dawna & husband Clark Bates of McCook, NE 2 Sister-in-laws: Joyce & Margie Gardner of Arapahoe, NE Grandchildren: 6 Great-Grandchildren: 4 Condolences or personal reflections can be left at www.wenburgfuneralhome.com Viewing & visitation Tuesday, 4 PM until 8 PM, Wednesday, 9 AM until 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home at Beaver City, Nebraska. Graveside services will be Thursday, July 19, 2007 at 1 PM at Arapahoe Cemetery at Arapahoe, Nebraska, with Pastor Keith Theobald, officiating. Wenburg Funeral Home of Beaver City, Nebraska in charge of arrangements.
