Duane Aldon Gardner, age 78, of Arapahoe, NE died Monday, August 15, 2005 at the Cambridge Manor, Cambridge, NE. He was born on August 16, 1926 to George H. & Daisy E. (Morse) Gardner north of Arapahoe, NE in Gosper County, NE.
He served in the Army from December of 1945 until February of 1947 in Japan. On June 3, 1948 he married Joyce Lucas of Holbrook at her parent’s home in Holbrook, NE. They farmed in Gosper County until moving to Arapahoe in June of 1992. Though his health was failing, he still continued to go to the farm and help as much as he could. He had received the Gosper County award for conservation and stewardship of the land. He served on the Arapahoe Co-op Board for 13 years and helped form Edison Co-op, which is now Ag Valley Co-op. He was a member of the Edison American Legion Post #343 and the Holbrook VFW. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, NE.
He is preceded in death by his parents, & brother Vernon.

Viewing and visitation will be Wednesday, August 17, from 9 AM till 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe, NE. Funeral services will be Thursday, August 18, 2005 at 2 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe, NE with Rev. Jeff W. Ernstmeyer, officiating. Interment will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery, Arapahoe, NE. Military rites will be provided by Edison American Legion Post #343 and the Holbrook VFW. Memorials may be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, NE and the Arapahoe Fire & Rescue squad. Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
