Elmyra Irmgard (Jorges) Wolf, age 85, of Arapahoe, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at her home. She was born on October 30, 1930 south of Elwood, NE in the Salem community to Frank & Josephine (Heny) Jorges. She was baptized on November 16, 1930 at Salem Lutheran Church.
Elmyra attended Salem County School through the 8th grade.
She married Donald C. Wolf on March 14, 1948. He preceded her in death in September 1996. To this marriage three daughters were born; Susan, Kathy & Debra.
Elmyra and Don purchased Schroeder Cleaners and owned Wolf Floral for about 16 years in Arapahoe, Nebraska. They were known for the annual special “Christmas Tea” in December and the floats for the local parades. Elmyra also flocked Christmas trees as a special activity at Wolf Floral for many years. Her work was definitely a pleasure. She was known around the area for her wedding cakes and catering services. She had finesse for coordinating and designing every project she was involved with. All was done to countless hours of quilting she did for all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Each one was “special” by design and all were created with “love.” She was an avid seamstress. She was a hard worker and loved to garden and tend to her beautiful flowers in her yard, her passion. It was “perfection” and had to have “grandma’s” approval.
We all have memories of her “orange van” and many years of delivering flowers and cakes. Her pride and joy.
She taught Sunday school, was a 4-H leader and gave ceramic lessons for several years. Elmyra enjoyed Hobby Club in her earlier years of life.
Elmyra was an honorary member of the FFA and Republican Valley Pheasants Forever.
Her many journals she kept of her life over the years are so special and full of fond memories.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. One sister Nora June Lehmann & husband Sherman, four brothers Kenneth Schutz & wife Ardeth, Robert Schutz and wife Esther; Paul Schutz and his wife Harriett; Ted Schutz and wife Janet.
She leaves to mourn her passing three daughters: Susan Wolf of Albuquerque, NM; Kathy Leggott (Jim) of Plymouth, MN; Debra Breinig (Doug) of Cambridge, NE. Eight grandchildren: Tori (Tim) Hamill of Aurora, CO; Trey (Stephanie) Horton of Castle Rock, CO; Tracia (Cedric) Hawkins of Alburqueque, NM; Talana (Jeff) Howard of Ridgecrest, CA; Jared (Megan) Breinig of Johnstown, CO; Paige (Derek) McConville of Lexington, NE; Lyndsay Leggott of Plmouth, MN & J.D. Leggott of St. Louis Park, MN. Thirteen great grandchildren: Meaghan, Josie, Taryn, Koda, Kaylei, Dre, Jacob, Kendyl, Ashby, Trell, Avery, Bristol & Riggs. And numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She endured hardship in her life but never let that prevent her from taking that next step.
We can only imagine how much she will be missed by all of us and the lasting impressions she has left us with.
We love you mom and know you are in God’s loving hands, until we meet again.
