Erma LuEmma Hall

Beaver City, Nebraska Erma LuEmma Hall, age 94, of Beaver City, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the Beaver City Manor, in Beaver City, Nebraska. She was born on February 21, 1919 to Osa (Mulford) Robeson, several months after her father, Andrew Earl Robeson had died of influenza in the fall of 1918. She was born southeast of Holbrook, Nebraska on a farmstead--the youngest of four children. She attended the Assembly of God Church in Hendley, Nebraska and was baptized in the Solomon River in Kansas. She was a student at School District #71 for eight years along with her two sisters and brother and her half-brother and half-sister. Erma then attended Beaver City High School, boarded in town and graduated in May of 1937. Having received normal training in high school, she taught in a rural Furnas County one-room school house for one year but then resigned to marry Orval Leonard Hall on October 29th , 1938. They were married by the county judge on a Saturday morning in Harrisburg, Banner County, Nebraska, since they were living and working in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, thus allowing the newlyweds to avoid missing work. Erma and Leonard were farmers most of their lives. Erma and Leonard worked a short time on a government farm in Wyoming during the depression years. Working beside them were Leonard's brother, Lowell and Lowell's wife Elsie, Erma's sister. After returning to Furnas County to farm, to this union were born three children, Lana (1940), Dennis (1942), and Jay (1952). Erma was a farm wife but also worked at the Beaver City Locker Plant for several years. Later, she was an assistant cook and then head cook at Beaver City Public Schools. Through the years, Erma also worked as a livestock sale barn clerk, a waitress, and at the Apollo Industries in Beaver City. Leonard was an auctioneer as well as a farmer and horseman. Erma and Leonard were members of the Beaver Valley Saddle Club and worked with the club's bingo events which helped finance the building of the Beaver City Clinic in 1952. She was a member of the Good Time Club, the VFW Auxiliary, the Beaver City Chamber of Commerce, the Senior Center quilting group and the Red Hatters. Erma, as an adult, attended the Grace Brethren Church of Beaver City and participated in its women's group. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leonard, in 1987, her step-father (Theodore Wilson), two brothers (Bill Robeson and Cecil Wilson), two sisters ( Evelyn Allison and Elsie Hall), several brothers and sisters-in-law and her son-in-law (Morris Mullis). She is survived by her daughter: Lana Laree Mullis, Ten Sleep, Wyoming sons: Arlan Dennis Hall & wife Ann of Oak Grove, Missouri Jay De Hall of Red Cloud, Nebraska 5 grandchildren: Phillip Mullis, Norman (Penny) Mullis, all of Ten Sleep, Wyoming Aron Mullis of Worland, Wyoming John Hall (Jamie) Hall, Rowena (Billy) Stone, all of Springfield, Missouri Sister: Eleanor Casteel, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska Brother-In-Law: Bob & wife JoAnn Hall of Beaver City, Nebraska Treasuring memories of Erma are fourteen nieces and nephews with their families, many close cousins and a host of friends and neighbors. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 10:30 AM at the Hollinger Methodist Church in Hollinger, Nebraska with Pastors Keith Theobald and Jane Blum, officiating.
