Esther Mae Meyers

Esther Mae Meyers, age 97, of Arapahoe, Nebraska passed away on Friday, December 19, 2014 at CA Mues Good Samaritan Center, in Arapahoe, Nebraska. She was born on March 25, 1917 in Pierce County northwest of Meadow Grove, Nebraska to Edward & Mary (Schutt) Duhachek. She was baptized and confirmed by Rev. O.E. Schlect at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church south of Tilden, Nebraska. Before marriage she worked in Norfolk, Nebraska, Denver, Colorado, and several years at Brandeis in Omaha, Nebraska. She was married April 18, 1948 to Oscar E. Meyers by Rev. Serheart E. Walters at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, south of Tilden. They lived on a farm homesteaded by Oscar’s great-grandparents north of Holbrook, Nebraska. They were members of the St. Matthews Lutheran Church north of Holbrook, Nebraska. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at St. Matthews. They joined Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, Nebraska before moving to Arapahoe in October of 1980. She and her husband farmed 14 more years before retiring in 1995. Esther was preceded in death by her parents, husband Oscar, a young sister Opal, sister Pearl Kohl, sister-in-law Sophie Neimeier, brother-in-law Elwood Kohl, brothers-in-law Victor Meyers and Herman Neimeier, niece Jackie Meyers Haussler and great niece Cristy Neimeier. She is survived by her sister-in-law Evelyn Meyers of Holbrook, Nebraska And many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends Condolences or personal reflections can be left at wenburgfuneralhome.com Viewing and visitation will be Monday, December 22, 2014 from 10 AM till 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home and prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 10:30 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church, in Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. James Moshier, officiating. Interment will be at Arapahoe Cemetery at Arapahoe, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
