Esther Viola Marble, age 80, of Almena, Kansas died Sunday, April 5, 2009 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. She was born March 23, 1929 at Almena, Kansas to Jimmie and Agnes (Picraux) Shearer. She was a life long resident of Almena, Kansas. She attended country schools near Almena.
She married Raymond Marble on August 16, 1948 at Beaver City, Nebraska. They farmed south of Beaver City, Nebraska and North West of Almena, Kansas. They moved into Almena, Kansas in 1960. They retired from farming in 1986. Her husband Raymond died May 25, 1998. She was active with "Almena Pride", she also was ticket taker for Almena Football Games for many years. She wrote correspondents for several newspapers including Norton Telegram, Phillipsburg Review and the Prairie Dog Press at Almena, Kansas. She operated the Husky Snack Shop for a number of years in Almena, Kansas. She also babysat for a number of children over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Randall Raymond, husband Raymond on May 25, 1998, brothers; Leroy Shearer and Ike Shearer, sisters: Leona Nelsen, Edna Nelsen and Alta Marble.

Daughter: Roxanne and husband Clyde Melia of Rozel, Kansas
Brother: Harold Shearer of Almena, Kansas
Sisters: Maxine Larison of Orleans, Nebraska
Lucille and husband Cletus Elson of Grand Island, Nebraska

Viewing and visitation will be Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City, Nebraska 1 PM until 8 PM and then Thursday, at Congregational Church in Almena, Kansas from 9:30 AM until services.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 9, 2009 at 1:30 PM at Congregational Church in Almena, Kansas with Rev. Kirk Kasson, officiating. Burial will follow at Deaver Cemetery near Stamford, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home of Beaver City, Nebraska in charge of arrangements.
