Eunice (Blondie-Thompson) Purvis, age 76, of San Diego, California, formerly of Arapahoe, Nebraska passed away on December 11, 2009. She was born on November 16, 1933 in Friend, Nebraska to William & Golda (Kage) Thompson.
Eunice attended Arapahoe High School and graduated in 1951, where she met Donald Purvis. After graduation, they were married on May 21, 1951 in Los Angeles, California. While Donald attended College in Vermillion, South Dakota, Eunice operated a Beauty Shop. After college they moved to San Diego, California in 1958. Eunice was a successful Real Estate Agent operating Purvis Realty until her death.
Eunice was an inspiration for many Type I diabetics. She took daily injections of insulin for 53 years, and at her death she was still free of any diabetic complications.
On October 10, 2009, Eunice suddenly became ill and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Scripps La Jolla Hospital as she was in respiratory failure. Eunice used all of her strong qualities that she used in her everyday life to try and fight her illness. When she slipped away her loving family members were all by her bedside, just as they had all been throughout the course of her illness.

Vickie Gordon of Fair Oaks, California
Grandsons: Jon, Brandon, and Dustin Williams, Clifton, Kyle, And Blake Gordon;
Great-Grandson Alex Williams
Nephew Terry Thompson of McCook, Nebraska
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Charles Thompson.

Viewing will be Sunday, December 20, from 2 PM till 7 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home, in Arapahoe, Nebraska and prior to the services at the church. Funeral services will be Monday, December 21 at 1 PM at the First United Methodist Church, in Arapahoe, Nebraska with Melody Adams, officiating. Burial will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery, Arapahoe, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
