Frances D. Baily, age 79, of Oxford, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege, Nebraska. She was born on August 14, 1945, in Holdrege, Nebraska, to Dale and Verna (Clarine) Gibson.
Frances grew up in Oxford and graduated from Oxford High School with the class of 1963. In 1963, she married Robert Baily, and together they made their home on the Baily family farm, where they raised four children: Kelly, Troy, Clarissa (Candy), and Craig. A devoted wife and mother, Frances was an active part of the farm life, helping with the daily chores while also being involved in her community. She was a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church, served as a 4-H leader, and supported the Oxford High School boosters.
Frances’ hearty meals were famous among family and friends who worked on the farm, especially during the busy seasons. She was a passionate gardener known for her beautiful roses. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she loved giving to others, whether through gifts or community service. She instilled a strong work ethic in her children, teaching them valuable life lessons through their time spent working on the farm and participating in 4-H, where they showed sheep, cattle, and hogs.
Frances and Bob especially cherished their role as grandparents, eagerly watching their grandchildren grow up and take part in various activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Verna Gibson; her father and mother-in-law, George and Myrtle Baily; and four sisters-in-law and five brothers-in-law.
Frances is survived by her loving husband, Robert Baily of Oxford, Nebraska; her children: Kelly Gillen of Oxford and children Cassandra Steele, Alyssa (Sean) Steele-Bottger, and Sean Gillen; Troy (Marti) Baily of Elkhorn, Nebraska, and their children Taylor (Katie), Trevor (Kate), Tucker, and Travis; Candy (Russ) Kraft of Lincoln, Nebraska, and children Colton, Sydney (Caleb) Webb; Craig (Heidi) Baily of Oxford, and children Beau and Brynn; and 5 great-grandchildren.
