Fred Hoffman, age 91, of Arapahoe, Nebraska passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015 at the C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe, Nebraska. He was born September 14, 1923 on a farm near Culbertson, NE, the seventh of ten children, to Jacob and Kathryn (Bell) Hoffman.
Fred completed his education at St. Francis, KS. On August 27, 1943 he married Lorraine Roth in McCook, NE, and to this 65 year union one son, Jerry, and one daughter, Judy, were born.
In the fall of 1946, Fred moved his family to Arapahoe and established Fred’s Body Shop. Shortly after, he built a building in downtown Arapahoe, where he added a Kaiser-Fraiser auto dealership and a Massey Harris implement dealership. In 1967 he sold his trucking business and decided to go into farming and continued this venture until retirement. After his retirement he lost his leg in a farming accident, but this did not interfere with his life plans; he continued to play golf, travel, and spend winters in Arizona with his wife.
