Beaver City, Nebraska Gary L. Rogers, age 73, of Beaver City, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Beaver City Manor, Beaver City, Nebraska. Gary was born on March 21, 1939 in Glendale, California to Clarence E. & Jessie E. (Juelfs) Rogers. Gary lived in Potter, Nebraska where the family farmed. From there the family moved to Hemingford, Nebraska to run the lumberyard with Bruce Hagemeister, which was Gary’s uncle. After leaving Hemingford, the family moved to Beaver City, Nebraska to own and operate the local grain elevator. He finished his last 2 years of school at Beaver City High School, graduating with the class of the 1956. He went on the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and graduated with a business degree. He enlisted in the National Guards and served 6 years of active service. In 1963, he married Joyce Meader and two children were born to this union, Todd & Tonya. Gary would help with the family business, Rogers Grain Company, then later moving to Nevada to work in the mining industry. In 1971, he moved the family back to Beaver City where he resumed his position at Rogers Grain Company. He worked for Edison Coop after the sale of the elevator in 1977. A year later he took a General Manager position with Farmers Business Association in Hendley, Nebraska. In the early 1980’s, he went into full time cattle feeding & farming. After a short retirement from the farm, Gary went to work for Clarence Courtright at the Stamford Elevator. He tried his hand at retirement again finding he had to be doing something. So he went to work as a truck driver for Ag Valley Coop. A stroke forced his hand in his final retirement in 2008. Odds and ends kept him busy until he was diagnosed with cancer. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Rex. He is survived by his wife Joyce Rogers of Beaver City, Nebraska Son: Todd Rogers & Penny Ling of Beaver City, Nebraska Daughter: Tonya Sadd & Jim Paxton of Beaver City, Nebraska 6 Grandchildren: Colin, Jessie, Mattie, Breann, Kattie, & Lane Condolences or personal reflections may be left at wenburgfuneralhome.com Viewing and visitation will be Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 10 AM till 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home, in Beaver City, Nebraska and prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 2 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Beaver City, Nebraska with Pastors Keith Theobald and Bill Weaver, officiating. Interment will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Beaver City, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home of Beaver City, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
