Gemisca M. Bruening, age 96, formerly of McCook and Hendley, Nebraska died Monday, March 19, 2012 at El Dorado Manor & Assisted Living at Trenton, Nebraska. She was born March 7, 1916 at Hendley, Nebraska to Thomas & Zetta (Meyers) Ayars. Both of her parents died when Gemisca was 2 years old and she was raised by Grandparents, Aunt's and Uncles and Cousins. She grew up in Hendley, Nebraska and graduated from Hendley High School with the class of 1933. She spent one year in Chicago following graduation. She returned to Hendley, Nebraska and married Earl Bruening on October 28, 1936 at O'Neill, Nebraska. She and her husband operated the General Store in Hendley for awhile. She was a home maker and family was a very important part of her life. They moved to McCook, Nebraska in 2000. Her husband Earl died May 2, 2004. She moved to Willow Ridge Retirement Center after her husband died in 2004. She moved to El Dorado Manor Assisted Living in Trenton, Nebraska on December 28, 2011. She was a member of First United Methodist Church at Hendley, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Earl on May 2, 2004. Survivors include: Son: Ronald and wife Judy Bruening of Omaha, Nebraska Daughters: Julie and husband Jim Cox of Trenton, Nebraska Sandy and husband Keith Miller of Omaha, Nebraska Grandchildren: 10 Great-Grandchildren: 26 Great-Great-Grandchildren: 10 Condolences or personal reflections can be left at www.wenburgfuneralhome.com Viewing and visitation will be Wednesday, March 21, 2012 from 10 AM until 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City, Nebraska and prior to services Thursday at the Church. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 11 AM at Faith Community Church in Beaver City, Nebraska with Pastor Clark Bates of First Christian Church of McCook, officiating. Burial to follow at Hendley Cemetery at Hendley, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home of Beaver City, Nebraska in charge of arrangements.
