George Eldon Robinson

George Eldon Robinson, age 84, of Beaver City, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Kearney Regional Hospital, in Kearney, Nebraska. He stepped onto the golden streets of his heavenly home where he was greeted by his Savior, his beloved wife Betty and son Joe Henry who had gone on before. As he slipped quickly from this world, he received his new heavenly body in the land where there are no tears, no sorrow and no sickness. George was born in Phoenix, Arizona to Hubert Earl and Bula Blen (Critser) Robinson on November 10, 1930. In later years, George was raised by his mother and step-father, Milton Schleicher, on his grandmother’s homestead. Through the years, he enjoyed visiting time with father and step-mother, Pauline Glover Robinson resided in Enid, OK. George Robinson began his formal education at District 2. It was during his elementary years that he first met Betty Taylor, a skinny young girl, who reported her first recollection of Eldon at that last day of school picnic was that he sat and pouted because he was upset with his sister. During high school, that same beauty and her long hair caught George’s eye and cupid buried an arrow deep in his heart. George married the love of his life, Betty Taylor, at the Full Gospel Church in Norton, KS on August 25, 1949. They enjoyed nearly 65 years of marriage. Following graduating from Beaver City High School with the class of 1947, George worked construction in Iowa, built a church in Oxford, helped build the Beaver City Elevator (up to the head house) and Oxford elevator up through the head house; and much of the concrete work on bridges in the area. While maintaining and Grade A Dairy, George also drove for Yellow Diamond Bus Lines, milked cows, preached at the Devizes Church, hauled for a hog farm, and delivered milk for Sunglo Dairy. While janitoring at the Beaver City School 18 years, he enjoyed getting to know the kids. George plumbed for Goodson Plumping, worked at the Norton Sanatorium and welded for New Age. And, since they weren’t busy enough…he and his wife operated the Lucky R Drive-In for 21 years. Children include: Katherine Faye born May 21, 1950 and son Don Allen born July 26, 1955. On March 10, 1959 son Joe Henry joined the family, followed by daughter, Rebecca Louise on the October 31, 1961. In addition to his beloved wife Betty, the anchor of George’s life was his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He often recounted the many times the Lord had intervened on his behalf. As a member of the Free Methodist Church in Beaver City, George taught Sunday school many years and fulfilled the duties of Sunday School Superintendent. For George, everything was about family. The Fourth of July, Christmas, picnics on the farm and playing baseball on a Sunday afternoon were just a few of the activities. Grandkids knew if you needed to talk hours on the phone while driving or trying to stay awake, Grandpa was willing to listen. George was proud of each and every one of his 10 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. George was preceded in death by wife Betty in March 2014, son Joe Henry (1983), his parents and step parents; Henry and Ruby Taylor, sister Jewell King Leedy; brothers-in-law Henry Allen Taylor, Eldon King, William Leedy and Dennis Nickell. Surviving George are: Daughter Kathy Wilmot and husband Wes; son Don and wife Pat Robinson and daughter Becky Robinson all of Beaver City. Grand children: Randall Klooz (Lori), Eric Klooz (Becky), Christal Whetstine (Shawn); Raquel Dringman (Dan); Sara Lentz (Shane); Dana Robinson (Rick); Bethany Greeson (Levi); Seth Robinson (Jenna); Bridgette Timmerman(Marty) and Joe Robinson. Great- Grandchildren: Mitchell, Emily, Karsen, Jacob and Abby Klooz; Reagan and Lincoln Klooz; Madison, Kaiden and Makenna Whetstine; Cheyenne, Cierra and Catalina Dringman; Jared, Joshua, Brooke, Bella and Brianna Lentz; Peyton, Phoebe and Piper Robinson; Cadance, Paisley and Lila Greeson; and Saylem Timmerman; Sisters-in-law Judy Nickell and Judy Taylor-Carr. Nieces, nephews, relatives, and a host of friends. In lieu of flowers, George requested memorials to Abbott House Home for girls in Mitchell, S.D. Abbott House is a home for troubled girls where his grandson Eric Klooz is administrator. He was proud of the work Eric and staff are doing to make a difference in troubled lives. Funeral services will be Monday, July 20, 2015 at 1:30 PM at the 7th Day Adventist Church, in Beaver City, Nebraska with Pastors Steve Sturtevant & Keith Theobald, officiating. Interment will be at the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Beaver City, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home of Beaver City, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
