Gilbert H. "Gib" Leising

Arapahoe, Nebraska Gilbert H. "Gib" Leising, age 93, of Arapahoe, Nebraska died on Monday, September 28, 2009 at the C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center, in Arapahoe, Nebraska. He was born on March 18, 1916 at Arapahoe, Nebraska to Paul H. & Louise (Bockerman) Leising. He graduated from Arapahoe High School with the Class of 1934. While in high school he worked for the Equity Store in Arapahoe. After school he would farm on the family farm. During a dry year of farming at Arapahoe, he would go to work on a farm in Minnesota, later to return back. On April 12, 1942, he married Agnes B. Schutz at Salem Lutheran Church, of Elwood, Nebraska. They made their home on the Leising farmstead south of Arapahoe. In 1982, they moved into Arapahoe. He was especially proud that the farm has been in the family for 4 generations and this year marked his 67th wedding anniversary. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, Nebraska and served as deacon, elder, and many other church committee's. He served on the Furnas Co. Extension Board, Arapahoe Cemetery Board, and a 4-H leader. He enjoyed playing baseball and later attending many different sporting events. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Paul, Edward, & Arthur Leising, Sisters-In-Law; Magdalene, Lillie, & Clara Belle Leising. Daughter-In-Law; Linda Leising, Brother-In-Law; Bernard Schutz. He is survived by his wife Agnes Leising, of Arapahoe, Nebraska Sons: Jerome & wife Vestey Leising of Minneapolis, Minnesota James Leising of St. Paul, Minnesota Tom & wife Linda Leising of Arapahoe, Nebraska Daughters: Carolyn & husband Larry tenBensel of Arapahoe, Nebraska Barbara & husband Marvin Luke of Oxford, Nebraska Grandchildren: 12 Great-Grandchildren: 17 Condolences and personal reflections may be left at wenburgfuneralhome.com Viewing & visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 1, from 1 PM till 8 PM and Friday, Oct. 2, from 9 AM till 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home, Arapahoe, Nebraska and prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 3, at 10:30 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Arapahoe, Nebraska with Vicar James Moshier, officiating. Interment will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery, Arapahoe, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
