Grace Shane

Arapahoe, Nebraska Grace Shane, age 102, of Denver, CO., formerly of Arapahoe, Nebraska died Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at Centura Senior Life Center Nursing Home in Denver, Colorado. She was born December 7, 1901 at Stamford, Nebraska to Edgar & Nellie (Upson) Goudie. She grew up in the Stamford, Nebraska area. She graduated with the Class of 1920 from Stamford Highs School. She married Frank Smith on August 16, 1922. They had one daughter Betty. They worked on various farm jobs in Kansas and later separated. She moved to Colorado in mid forties where she met and married Donald D. Shane in Denver, Colorado on March 6, 1946. In 1950 they moved to a farm 11 miles North of Arapahoe, Nebraska, retired and moved into Arapahoe in 1968. Donald D. Shane died December 27, 1972. She returned to Denver, Colorado in 1996 to be near her daughter. She entered nursing homes in the Denver area in 1997. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Arapahoe, Nebraska. She also belonged to a “Quilting Club.” Preceded in death by parents, 1 Brother, 5 sisters and her husband. Survivors include one daughter: Betty & husband Roy Bigalow of Englewood, CO Grandchildren: 4 Great-Grandchildren: 14 Great-Great-Grandchildren: 23 No viewing or visitation. Graveside services will be Saturday, July 17, 2004 at 10 AM at Arapahoe Cemetery, Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. Dr. Hyeongdong Baek, officiating. Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe, Nebraska in charge of arrangements.
