Helen C. Franklin,age 91, of Creighton, Nebraska formerly of Beaver City, Nebraska died Monday, June 2, 2008 at Creighton Care Center at Creighton, Nebraska. She was born July 19, 1916 at Newark, New Jersey to Charles P. and Beulah (Joralemon) Canham.
Helen grew up on the East Coast. She graduated from Montclair High School in Montclair, New York with Class of 1934 and Stoneleigh Women's Junior College in Rye Beach, New Hampshire. Following graduation from Junior College she worked in New York , City for a couple of years. She was married to Edwin H. Franklin on June 26, 1948 at her parent's home in Wyncoat, Pennsylvania . Following marriage they moved to Beaver City, Nebraska . She worked at the Furnas Co. Extension Office for several years, then was a cook at Beaver City Schools. Her husband Edwin died May 3, 1977. She lived with her daughters after the fall of 2000.
During her life in Beaver City she was devoted to her family and the raising of her girls. She was a member of First United Methodist Church at Beaver City, Nebraska were she was active in the church choir, various clubs, Eastern Star, bowling and bridge. Helen enjoyed walking, working in the yard and tending flowers. She volunteered her time to Meals on Wheels, the bloodmobile, church activities, American Legion A uxiliary and more. Helen's sweet, kind and loving nature endeared her to all who knew her and she raised her girls that way too.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Charles & Beulah Canham, husband Edwin and Brother Pratt Canham.

Margi and husband Don Ehrke of Orleans , NE
Sister: Janet Williams of New London , NH
Seven Grandchildren: Phoebe and Halle Gydesen; Jared, Jenna, Adam, Andrea, and David Ehrke; six nieces and nephews.
Viewing and visitation will be Wednesday, June 4, 2008, 9 AM until 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City, Nebraska and prior to services on Thursday at the church.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 5, 2008, at 10 AM at First United Methodist Church in Beaver City, Nebraska with Pastors: Robert E. Berlie, Sr. and Keith Theobald, officiating. Lunch will follow services and then burial at 12 noon at Mount Hope Cemetery at Beaver City, Nebraska.
