Helen P. Martin, age 89, of Beaver City, Nebraska died Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Holdrege, Nebraska. Helen was born July 29, 1923 on a farm west of Stamford, Nebraska to Clarence and Mary (Lehman) White.
Helen grew up in Furnas County, Nebraska. She attended District 10 Country School and later attended Stamford High School at Stamford, Nebraska. She married Gerald Martin on September 13, 1939 at Phillipsburg, Kansas. They farmed southwest of Stamford until 1948 when they moved to a farm southwest of Beaver City, Nebraska where they continued to farm until 1972 when they retired and moved into Beaver City, Nebraska. Helen moved into the Beaver City Manor & assisted Living for several years. Her husband Gerald died Sept 17, 1994.
Helen was a very active bowler, loved to play pitch and enjoyed painting in her spare time. She enjoyed her time with her special friend Alfred Cass in her later years. She was a member of Faith Community Church at Beaver City and was a prior member of First United Methodist Church in Beaver City, Nebraska. She also belonged to "Happy Go Lucky Club."
She was preceded in death by parents, husband Gerald and 2 Brothers and 1 Sister and two 1/2 Sisters.
Survivors include: 3 Sons: Ron Martin and wife Jennie of Terre Haute, Indiana
Gary Martin and wife Ellen of Kearney, Nebraska
Thomas Martin and wife Nancy of Lincoln, Nebraska
Sister: Dorothy Hinze of Lincoln, Nebraska
Half-Sister: Minnie Mintzmeyer of Alma, Nebraska
Grandchildren: 8 Great-Grandchildren: 21; Great-Great Grandchildren: 3
Viewing and visitation will be Friday, November 30, 2012 from 10 AM until 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City, Nebraska and prior to services Saturday at the church.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 2 PM at Faith Community Church in Beaver City, Nebraska, with Pastor Daniel David, officiating. Burial to follow at Mount Home Cemetery at Beaver City, Nebraska.
