Irma Laverne Mart

Irma Laverne Mart, age 98, of Beaver City, Nebraska formerly of Hendley, Nebraska died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Beaver City Manor at Beaver City, Nebraska. She was born August 17, 1911 at Hendley, Nebraska to Robert (Rob) & Louise (Kirste) Martin. She was raised South of Hendley, Nebraska and graduated from Hendley High School at Hendley, Nebraska. Following graduation she attended Kearney State Teachers College for 1 year. She taught Country School for several years near Hendley, Nebraska. She married Oscar Norval Mart on January 26, 1935 at Norton, Kansas. They were cattle breeders and farmed in the Rexford, Kansas area following marriage until 1966 when they moved back to Hendley and farmed and raised cattle. They retired in the 1970's. Her husband Norval died June 19, 1998. She moved to Beaver City Manor at Beaver City, Nebraska in March of 2004 and resided there until her death. She was a member of Hendley United Methodist Church and later transfered membership to First United Methodist Church at Beaver City, Nebraska. She was a member of United Methodist Women and Royal Neighbors of America to just name a few. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Norval, Grandson Mitchell Mart, Great-Grandson; Dylan Rhoten, Sisters: Merna Smith and Glenva Hinkle. Survivors include; Son; Robert Mart of Grand Island, Nebraska Daughter: Novella and husband Terry Rhoten of Dodge City, Kansas Brother: Bobby Martin and wife Burdella of Arapahoe, Nebraska Sister: Neva Longsine of Central City, Nebraska Grandchildren: 4 Great-Grandchildren: 7; Great Great Grandchildren: 1 Condolences or personal reflections can be left at www.wenburgfuneralhome.com Viewing and visitation will be Friday, December 18, 2009 at 1 PM until 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City, Nebraska and prior to services Saturday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 1 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City, Nebraska with Rev. Michael Flury, officiating.
