James A. Stratton, age 78, of Beaver City, Nebraska died Thursday, March 13, 2008 at the Beaver City Manor. He was born February 17, 1930 at Hendley, Nebraska to Albert & Delilah (Gentry) Stratton.
He was a life long resident of Furnas County, Nebraska. He attended grade school & high school at Hendley, Nebraska. He graduated from Beaver City High School with the class of 1947. Following graduation he started farming with his father. He was drafted into the Marine Corp on November 20, 1951 during the Korean Conflict, and was discharged November 5, 1953. Following his military duties to returned to farming. He married Joyce (Bates) Chesterman on February 7, 1975 at Beaver City, Nebraska. He continued to farm until 1994. He entered the Beaver City Manor in July of 2004.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church at Beaver City, Nebraska as well as American Legion Post #28 at Beaver City, Nebraska. He was a past member of Beaver City Volunteer Fire Department, Jaycee's and Lion's Club.
Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Lou Hunt who died Aug 21, 2007.

Step-Grandchildren: 10 Step-Great-Grandchildren: 3
Viewing and visitation will be Saturday, March 15, 2008 from 9 AM until 8 PM and Sunday, March 16th, 1 PM until 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City, Nebraska and prior to services Monday at the church.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 17, 2008 at 10:30 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Beaver City, Nebraska with Pastors Ivan Dean, Joyce Dean and Keith Theobald, officiating. Burial with Military honors will be at Mount Cemetery at Beaver City, Nebraska.
Memorial established to Good Samaritan Hospice or Beaver City Senior Center and may be left at funeral home or at the church.
