Jerry Dean Warner, age 88, of Beaver City, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Holdrege, Nebraska. He was born to Ralph & Nelle (Orr) Warner on August 19, 1927 on the family farm east of Beaver City
Jerry attended school at Beaver City High School and graduated with the class of 1945. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After honorably discharged as a staff sergeant from service, he married Arvida L. Weatherwax on January 3, 1951, at Keesler Air Force Base at Biloxi, Mississippi. To this union four children were born; Nancy, Scott, Janice, & Joni. They made their home on a farm on the west side of Hendley, Nebraska. They would farm and raise cattle there for 10 years before buying the Courtright Farm on the west side of Beaver City. He was a farmer for years before starting his own dirt construction business in 1957. He also sold Archer oil for many years.
Jerry was a past member of the United Methodist Church and attended the Faith Community Church in Beaver City. He also belonged to the Beaver City Lions Club, American Legion Post, and Grange. He served as the Furnas County Commissioner for 8 years and was also on the Beaver City School Board for 8 years. He served on the NRD Board when it first organized and Rural Fire Board of Beaver City from 1965-2012. His Dirt construction business also helped create many projects in the area including the baseball field in Beaver City.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, wife Arvida, sister Flora Marie Krumme, brothers Ralph Newell Warner Jr., Dale Warner, and George Robert Warner.
He is survived by his daughter Nancy & husband Jack Becker of Beaver City, Nebraska, son Scott & wife Kim Warner of Kansas City, Missouri, daughters Janice & husband Bob Byrns of Lexington, Nebraska & Joni Warner-McCoy of Hastings, NE. 8 Grandchildren; Tara & husband Trevin Seng, Joshua & wife Amanda Becker, JayCe & husband Mike Minarik, Jacob Becker, Jayden Warner, Hannah & husband JC Kleewein, Colton McCoy & Levi McCoy, 15 Great-Grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be no viewing or visitation as it was Jerry’s wishes for cremation. Celebration of Life will be Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 11 AM at the Faith Community Church in Beaver City, Nebraska with Pastor Daryl Kats, officiating. Private Family inurnment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery at Beaver City, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home of Beaver City, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements. Military rites by the Beaver City American Legion and Air Force Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Beaver City Lion’s Club, Beaver City Alumni Scholarship Fund, Beaver City Ambulance Squad, American Cancer Society, & Beaver City Tree Board.
