Joanne C. Whitson

Arapahoe, Nebraska Joanne C. Whitson, age 76, of Holbrook, Nebraska, died Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at the Cambridge Hospital, in Cambridge, Nebraska. She was born May 31, 1932 at Champaign, Illinois to Charles E. & Jessie M. (Crawford) Amerman. She grew up at Monitor, Illinois and attended Monitor High School, graduating with the Class of 1951. She attended Purdue University at West Lafayette, Indiana. She married Dorville Whitson Sr. on March 3, 1952 at Lawrenceville, Illinois. They moved to Lafayette, Indiana were Dale would work for Alcoa Co. for a few years. He would then enter the U.S. Air Force and serve for the next 21 years and then the civil service for the next 10 years at various places in the United States and Europe. After Dorville retired, they lived in Lawton, Oklahoma, Omaha, Nebraska, and then Holbrook, Nebraska. Her husband Dorville passed away on January 29, 2005. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, in Holbrook, Nebraska. She did mission work for the American Baptist Women, & former member of the Eastern Star from 1976 until 1991 in California. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Dennis Whitson, & sister Barbara Anders. Survivors include Sons: Joseph & wife Vickie Whitson of Vacaville, California Dale & wife Loida Whitson of Holbrook, Nebraska Thomas & wife Connie Whitson, of Martinez, California L.D. Whitson of Salem, Illinois Daughter: Sheryl & husband Kevin Gramman of Omaha, Nebraska Brothers: Carrol & wife Marilyn Amerman of Columbus, Ohio Mel & wife Clare Amerman of Westfir, Oregon Grandchildren: 8 Great-Grandchildren: 4 Condolences or personal reflections can be left at www.wenburgfuneralhome.com. Viewing and visitation will be Thursday, October 16, from 9 AM till 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home, of Arapahoe, Nebraska and prior to the services at the church. Funeral services will be Friday, October 17, at 11 AM at the First Baptist Church of Holbrook, Nebraska with Pastor Dale Whitson, officiating. Graveside services will be Saturday, Oct. 18, at 11 AM at Westlawn Cemetery, Omaha, Nebraska with Pastor Richard Prettyman, officiating.
