John Arthur Barker

John Arthur Barker, age 79, passed away on May 12, 2022 at the Tri Valley Hospital in Cambridge, Nebraska. He was born July 7, 1942 in Omaha, Nebraska. In January 1946 he was adopted by Ralph and Mary (Williamson) Barker, where sister Dorothy welcomed him into the family.

He graduated from Beaver City High School with the class of 1961. Following graduation, he was employed with Phelps County Sand and Gravel in Holdrege, Nebraska.

On December 28, 1963 he was united in marriage to Carol Young of Holdrege. To this union a son, John Arthur Barker, was born. They later divorced.

He spent many years in a semi traveling from coast to coast, he always said he hauled anything and everything.

He finally settled in Kearney, Nebraska where he met his lifelong friend and companion of 22 years, Susan Barnes. They moved to Holbrook to be closer to family, where they resided till his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Johnny and brother-in-law Robert Bottrell.

Those left to cherish his memory are Susan Barnes, her son Johnny and daughter Connie, sister Dorothy Bottrell, nephews Bob Bottrell, David (Abbie) Bottrell, niece Barbara (Jim) Borgmann. Great niece Jordan Bottrell, great nephews Brandon and Joshua Borgmann.

Graveside service will be held Saturday May 14, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Beaver City, Nebraska with Ron Stonerook officiating. There is no viewing or visitation. Wenburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
