John Edward Holdiman, age 76, of Eustis, Nebraska passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, Nebraska. He was born on June 7th, 1945 in Bozeman, Montana to Edward Elias Hiram & Bernice Ella (Russell) Holdiman. John had many hobbies in his life and loved to do family ancestry to dig up relatives from the past. He loved to read his science fiction books as well. One of his favorite hobbies was playing chess, he would play against the computer and would win every time. So eventually the computer refused to play with him anymore. He was a man that held a wealth of information. He put himself through school to learn the master of construction that his father was unable to teach him. He built a house from bottom to top. He was a roofer by trade for many years and worked in a mobile home factory also. John was an ordained Minister where he later married one of his grandchildren and his wife to be. He always told family and anyone else that would listen that any marriage he performed would last forever and a day. His family always said if he can’t fix it, no one can. He wanted to serve in the military but couldn’t because of his eyesight. He was a God fearing man. His family said he was the kindest, most generous person, giving the shirt off his back to someone in need. The grandchildren considered him there super hero and many thought of him as a very good friend. He entered into marriage with the love of his life, Marilyn Alice Daly on January 27, 1983. He did not only marry her, but he gained four children into his life. He never like to use the word step as that is something you use to stand on and also didn’t like the word in-law. The spouses of the children were all of his children. His children: Shirley S. Bartenhagen and husband Craig D. Larry D. Crawford Dale E. Crawford and wife Deana M Vincent L. Crawford and wife Merry E Much later in life he became a grandfather to 20 grandchildren: Kele Yake & husband Al Moccia, Nicholas Crawford, Lisa Crawford, Brent Crawford, Lacee Jo Crawford, Heather Bartenhagen Powers and husband Marc, Donald Crawford & wife Briana, Andy Crawford and wife Lindsey, Tiffany Bartenhagen Butler and husband Troy Butler, Christopher Bartenhagen and wife Alicia, Dustin Crawford and wife Stefanie, Joylin Crawford, and Aiden Allan 10 Great Grandchildren: Brendyn Taylor, Kalen Taylor, Justin Crawford, Blakely Crawford, Brooklynn Crawford, Parker Crawford, Matthew Powers, Jason Powers, Dakota Powers, Zeus Moore He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister. Memorial service will be Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 2 PM at Elwood Funeral Home, Elwood, Nebraska. Inurnment will be at a later date.
