John Steven Foster, age 63, of Cambridge, Nebraska passed away at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Saturday, April 19th, 2014. He was born on October 15, 1950 at Cambridge, Nebraska to Loyal & Winifred (Sexton) Foster.
John attended and graduated from Cambridge High School with the class of 1968. He was united in marriage to Charlene Shatto in May of 1974. They raised three children: Thomas, Linnea & Tristan. In 1968, he started working as a parts man for Johnson Inc. implement dealership in Cambridge. Then he would work for Watson-Mueller-Jones dealership starting in 1976 until 1984 when the dealership closed. He would then go to work at Curley Olney’s in McCook, Nebraska. He was a very dedicated volunteer for the Cambridge Volunteer Fire Department and EMT’s. For 34 years, he was a volunteer Fireman and 32 years as a volunteer EMT for Cambridge Fire & Rescue Squad. In 1991, he was inducted into the Cambridge Volunteer Hall of Fame. He enjoyed working on small engines, but most all his free time was spent helping with Fire & Rescue Squad. John was known for helping out in the community wherever needed, stopping to help people with any problem they might have. He enjoyed working hard and giving to his community.
John was preceded in death by his parents, wife Charlene in 2012.

Brother-In-Law: Paul Shatto of Bushnell, Florida

Viewing & visitation will be Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 5 PM till 8 PM at United Methodist Church in Cambridge, Nebraska with family present from 5 PM till 7 PM. Funeral services will be Friday, April 25, 2014 at 11 AM at the United Methodist Church, in Cambridge, Nebraska with Pastor Jeff Wolf, officiating. Interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery, in Cambridge, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials can be sent to John Foster Memorials, P.O.
