Joyce M. Gardner

Arapahoe, Nebraska Joyce M. Gardner, age 84, of Arapahoe, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Cambridge Hospital in Cambridge, Nebraska. She was born on May 26, 1929 north of Holbrook, Nebraska in Frontier County, Nebraska to Henry F. & Carrie (Rupp) Lucas. She attended Holbrook High School and graduated with the class of 1946. After school, she taught for 2 years at a country school north of Holbrook, Nebraska in Furnas County. On June 3, 1948 she married Duane A. Gardner of Arapahoe, Nebraska. They were blessed with 2 daughters and 1 son. The Gardners farmed in Gosper County until moving to Arapahoe in June of 1992. Joyce was very involved and supportive in all her children’s and grandchildren’s events. She was a member of the Every Ready Club and Women’s Club of Arapahoe. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe and served on the LWML, Mission Mall, Music, & Vacation Bible school committees. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Duane Gardner, 3 sisters Phyllis Gormly, Evelyn Buk, & Marcella Carter, and 1 Infant brother Owen Lucas. She is survived by her Daughter: Vickie Gardner & David Balsinger of Fort Collins, Colorado Son: Randy & wife Carla Gardner of Arapahoe, Nebraska Daughter: Cheryl Gardner Severance of Beatrice, Nebraska 6 Grandchildren: Chandra & Aaron Severance, Megan, Kendra, Ryan, & Jacob Gardner Sister-In-Law: Norma Gardner of McCook, Nebraska Condolences or personal reflections can be left at wenburgfuneralhome.com Viewing and visitation will be Sunday, February 2, 2014 from 2 PM till 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home, Arapahoe, Nebraska and prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be on Monday, February 3, 2014 at 10:30 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church, in Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. James Moshier, officiating. Interment will be at Arapahoe Cemetery at Arapahoe, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
