Joyce J. Webb

Joyce J. Webb, age 88, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2014 at her home in Arapahoe, Nebraska. She was born on June 3, 1926 at Arapahoe, Nebraska to William A. & Sadie E. (Remington) Breinig. Joyce attended school at Arapahoe, Nebraska and graduated with the class of 1945. After high school, she lived with her sister Minnie and worked in the Arapahoe area. She was working at Tuffy’s Café in Cambridge, Nebraska when she met Duane Webb. It was love at first sight and they married on May 20, 1947 at Norton, Kansas. They lived in several Nebraska towns while Duane worked for Kansas-Nebraska Gas Company. In 1949, they moved to Hastings, Nebraska where Duane worked for the Lincoln Telephone Co. Joyce began working first for Hatton’s Electric Company as a bookkeeper and then for S & H Green Stamp Co. as an assistant manager. In 2000, after several years of retirement, they moved to Arapahoe, Nebraska. Joyce was a self-taught tailor and made suits for Duane and her father. She loved bowling, dancing, boating & water skiing. As a couple they especially enjoyed traveling the United States and particularly Hawaii where they renewed their vows at Shrine Beach on their 50th Wedding Anniversary. She was a boisterous, avid Husker Football fan and at the same time, collected small glass bells because she loved their clear, dainty ring. Joyce was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hastings and later in Arapahoe, Nebraska. She was a member of the Shrine Auxiliary (Tehama Temple), Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, and the United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Don & Ivan Breinig, and her sisters Minnie Lueck & Wilma Martin. She is survived by her husband Duane Webb of Arapahoe, Nebraska & many nieces and nephews and cousins. Box 584, Arapahoe, NE. 68922. Viewing & visitation will be Wednesday, October 8, 2014 from 10 AM until 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home, in Arapahoe, Nebraska. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church in Arapahoe, Nebraska with Pastors Ken Breinig & Becky Saddler, officiating. Interment will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery, Arapahoe, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers are Fred Lueck, Donald Breinig, William Breinig, Terry Norblade, George Ryan, Paul Englund Honorary Bearers are Charles Six, Clinton Olmsted, C. Douglas Breinig, & Doyle Watson.
