Leo B. Schievelbein

Arapahoe, Nebraska Leo B. Schievelbein, age 84, died Monday, October 11, 2004 at his home in Arapahoe, Nebraska. He was born on July 19, 1920 in Gosper County, Nebraska to Wilhelm & Emma (Sydow) Schievelbein. He was baptized and confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Gosper County, Nebraska. He attended school at Immanuel Parochial School. After school he served in the Army. After his service duty he returned to Gosper County to farm. On June 3, 1945 he married Leona J. Haussler at St. Matthews Church of rural Arapahoe, NE. They farmed for a number of years before moving to Arapahoe in 1966. He would then work for Eliason Grain Co. and then do construction work for IBS of Elwood, NE and Stagemeyer Construction of Arapahoe, NE. He also would do general construction work on his own for a number of years before retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, NE. He is preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers John Wendland, Arthur, Rhienhart, & Glen Schievelbein & Grandson Alan Tyler. Survivors include wife: Leona Schievelbein of Arapahoe, NE Sons: Les Schievelbein of Norton, KS Gary & wife Cathy Schievelbein of Arapahoe, NE Bill Schievelbein of Lincoln, NE Leon & wife Crystal Schievelbein of Arapahoe, NE Robert Schievelbein of Goddard, KS Daughters: Karen & husband Larry Kohtz, of York, NE Cathy Tyler of McCool Junction, NE Sister: Irene Stagemeyer of Holbrook, NE Grandchildren: 7 Great-Grandchildren: 6 Funeral Services will be Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004 at 10:30 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, NE with Rev. Carl Lilienkamp, officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 12, from 1 PM until 8 PM & Wednesday, Oct. 13, from 9 AM until 8 PM at the Wenburg Funeral Home, of Arapahoe, NE. Burial will be at Arapahoe Cemetery, Arapahoe, NE with military rites given by the American Legion Post #343 of Edison, NE . Wenburg Funeral Home, of Arapahoe, NE is in charge of the arrangements.
