LeRoy Vernon Nitzel

LeRoy Vernon Nitzel, age 63, of Arapahoe, Nebraska died suddenly of a massive heart attack on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital at Cambridge, Nebraska. He was born September 13, 1955 in Akron, Colorado to Vernon and Dorothy (Moffitt) Nitzel. LeRoy was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron, Colorado. He attended the Akron school system K-12, graduating in 1974. Throughout his youth he enjoyed participating in all sports and later became an encyclopedia of sports knowledge. He also loved music and Sirius Satellite Radio. In 1988 LeRoy met Angel Wright, the love of his life. On June 22, 1991, they were married in Culbertson, Nebraska. On his 39th birthday, their daughter Kendra LeAnn was born. For the past 23 years, they made their home in Arapahoe, Nebraska. LeRoy worked laying floors for several years, but his greatest, most important job was caring for their daughter. LeRoy, Angel, and Kendra loved to travel and had many fun trips throughout the years. LeRoy was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Nitzel; his mother-in-law and father-in-law James and Icyle Wright; his brothers-in-law Roger Muchow and Allen Meyers; his niece Miranda Batty; and his nephew Austin Wright. Left to mourn his passing are his wife Angel and daughter Kendra both of Arapahoe, Nebraska; mother Dorothy Nitzel of Akron, Colorado; sister Vicky Muchow of Brighton, Colorado; sisters-in-law Mollie (Brad) Wright and Jamie Meyers of Longmont, Colorado; brothers-in-law Shane Wright of Bridgeport, Nebraska and Quinton Wright of Omaha, Nebraska; nieces Trisha (Keith) Uhl of Arvada, Colorado; Heather Muchow of Brighton, Colorado; Erin Wright of Kearney, Nebraska; nephew Tyler Wright of Topeka, Kansas; and several great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 22, at 10:00 am MST at Peace Lutheran Church in Akron, Colorado. Inurnment at a later date.
