Lorraine ("Tootie") Hoffman

Lorraine ("Tootie") Hoffman, age 83, of Arapahoe, NE died Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE, after a five year battle with renal disease. She was born on August 27, 1925 in McCook, NE to John and Anna (Schwartz) Roth. She was the eighth of eleven children. She attended McCook Public Schools, and on August 27, 1943 she married Fred Hoffman of McCook, NE. To this union two children were born. Fred and Lorraine moved to Arapahoe in 1947 where they owned a body shop, an implement dealership, a trucking firm, and ultimately began farming. For the past thirty years Fred and Lorraine had a winter home in Mesa, Arizona. In 2005 they moved there permanently. In April of 2008, Lorraine and Fred moved to Northridge Retirement Community in Kearney, NE. Lorraine took great pride in her flowers and her yard. She also was a master seamstress and quilter, but her greatest pride came from her family. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Judy, her parents; five brothers, John Roth, Hank Roth, Ruben Roth, Ray Roth, Al Roth, two sisters, Pauline Walters and Mary Uhrich. She is survived by her husband Fred Hoffman of Kearney, Nebraska Son: Jerry and wife, Diane Hoffman of Cambridge, Nebraska Brothers: Ed Roth, of Oregon Marvin Roth of Lincoln, Nebraska Sister: Jeanette & husband Eldon Reynolds of Loomis, Nebraska Three grandchildren, Maryka Weverka and husband, Todd of Arapahoe, NE , J.F. Hoffman and wife, Alicia of Elkhorn, NE, and Jordan Gallner of Omaha, NE, as well as six great-grandchildren, Shea, Sid, and Summer Hoffman, Caden and Brielle Weverka, and Makenzie Gallner. Condolences and personal reflections may be left at wenburgfuneralhome.com Viewing and visitation will be Wednesday, March 18, 2009 from 9 AM till 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home, in Arapahoe, Nebraska. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 19, at 3 PM at the First United Methodist Church, Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. Michael Flury, officiating. The casket will be open at the Funeral Home only. Interment will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery, Arapahoe, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
