Margaret L. Herbert

Margaret L. Herbert, age 72, of Arapahoe, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2020, at her home. She was born November 2, 1947 to Charles C. and Cecil (Staal) Chessmore in North Platte, Nebraska. She grew up in North Platte and graduated from North Platte High School. She married James Welch and had 3 children: James, Todd, Tamara. They would later divorce. On March 24, 1979, she tied their love in a double knot with Donald Herbert at the Arapahoe Christian Church in Arapahoe. They made their home in Lexington, Nebraska while she worked for Monroe Manufacturing Company in Cozad, Nebraska. For a short time she worked at New Holland in Lexington before returning to Monroe’s. She would retire in 2010. They lived on a small acreage by Lexington before moving to Arapahoe in 2017. She was a member of the Christian Church in Lexington. She loved to go camping, Nebraska Football games, riding horses, riding motorcycles, and especially loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Howard, Clifford, & Harold Chessmore, sister Mabel Chessmore, mother and father-in-law Harvey & Margaret Herbert, and brothers-in-law Dick Herbert & Roy Dauphenbaugh. Left to cherish her life is her husband Donald Herbert of Arapahoe, Nebraska, sons James Welch of Lakewood, Colorado, Todd & wife Lynn Welch of Arapahoe, Nebraska, daughters Tamara & husband Joel Kincaid of Kearney, Nebraska, Laurie Leon of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Misty & husband Russ Becker of Omaha, Nebraska, Sisters-In-law Wanda Chessmore of Calloway, Nebraska, and Clara Chessmore of Cozad, Nebraska. Grandchildren; Ciera, Dakota, Cheyanne, Taylor, Nicholas, Erica, Levi, Steve, Marisa, Sidney, Reis. Great Grandchildren: Caiden, Avery, Emerson There will be no viewing or visitation as Margaret chose cremation. Memorial services will be at a later date. Inurnment will be at Arapahoe Cemetery at a later date. Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
