Margaret I. Walker, age 89, of Arapahoe, Nebraska, died Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe, Nebraska. She was born November 28, 1922 at the family farm north of Edison, Nebraska in Furnas County, Nebraska to Melvin & Mabel (Musik) Fisher.
As a young girl, she attended a rural school in the community where she lived. When her family moved to a farm north of Holbrook in 1939, Margaret attended Holbrook High School and graduated from there. On June 23, 1946, she married Herbert Walker in Norton, Kansas. In the spring of 1954, through adoption, a two-year-old boy, David Alan, arrived to bless their home.
Margaret was a homemaker and enjoyed baking, embroidery, quilting and babysitting. At a young age, David was diagnosed with an incurable disease and much of her time was spent caring for him until his death on November 21, 1968. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe and taught Bible School for several years.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Herbert, in 1993; her son David Alan; an infant sister, Helen; and two brothers, Preston Fisher and Floyd Fisher.
She is survived by two sisters-in-law: Maxine Fisher of Lincoln, Nebraska

Viewing and visitation will be Tuesday, June 5, 2012 from 10 AM till 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home, of Arapahoe, Nebraska and prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 2 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. James Moshier, officiating. Burial will be at Arapahoe Cemetery, Arapahoe, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church Hand Bell Choir or donor’s choice. Wenburg Funeral Home, of Arapahoe, Nebraska is in charge of arrangements.
