Arapahoe, Nebraska Mari Ann Emmett, age 66, of Scotia, Nebraska, died on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Tiffany Square Care Home in Grand Island, Nebraska. She was born on July 30, 1944 at Hastings, Nebraska to Joe & Mary (Serf) Weiler. She was raised in Hastings and graduated from Hastings St. Cecilia High School. She later moved to Grand Island where she was able to pursue her career in retail sales. She was employed at Maurices Clothing Store for 25 years before retiring as store manager in 1997. While living in Grand Island , she was active with the PTA and was a persistent fund raiser for the American Diabetes Association. In 2005 she married Scott Emmett, and the couple made their home in Scotia until her health caused her to move to Tiffany Square where she lived until her death. After her retirement, Mari Ann was able to devote time to reading which was her favorite pastime. She also enjoyed the company of the ladies of the Scotia United Methodist Church and the Scotia Women's Club. Although afflicted with diabetes most of her life, and having had several strokes, she always displayed energy, enthusiasm, and especially her love of God, her home, her family, friends, and her dogs, particularly her Basset Hound. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister Barbara Sommers. She is survived by her husband Scott Emmett of Scotia, Nebraska Sons: Michael Snyder of Grand Island, Nebraska & wife Michelle Snyder of Chapman, Nebraska Richard & wife Jody Kinman of Leigh, Nebraska Christopher Snyder of Grand Island, Nebraska Step-son: Shawn & wife Marcella Emmett of McDonough, Georgia Sister: Nan & husband Jay Grawe of Quincy, Illinois Brother: Joe & wife Jane Weiler of Berryton, Kansas Mother-In-Law: Grace Emmett of Auburn, Nebraska Grandson: Tommy Kinman 5 Step-Grandchildren: Dalton, Ransom, & Chevy Stout of Chapman, Nebraska, Austin & Makayla Emmett of McDonough, Georgia Condolences or personal reflections can be left at wenburgfuneralhome.com Viewing & visitation will be Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 9 AM till 3 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home, Arapahoe, Nebraska. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 9 AM at the Scotia United Methodist Church, in Scotia, Nebraska. Graveside services will be on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 4 PM at the Arapahoe Cemetery, Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. Bruce Phillips, officiating. Memorial may be designated to the American Diabetes Association, Scotia United Methodist Church, or the donor's choice. Wenburg Funeral Home, of Arapahoe, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
