Marilyn Rogene Shaffer, age 76, of Edison, Nebraska passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. She was born on July 13, 1938 to Abraham & Norma Laverne (Rollstin) Chapman at their home on the Turkey Creek, 5 miles north of Edison, Nebraska
Marilyn was the second child and only daughter, with one older brother Gary Clayton Chapman. The family moved ¼ mile west of Edison when Marilyn was 4 years old. She received her education at the Edison Public School. In high school she enjoyed being in the band where she played the flute and was a majorette.
Marilyn was united in marriage to Robert L. (Bob) Shaffer on February 11, 1955. To this union four children were born-Bonnie, Betty, Cindy, & Rob. She worked at Becton Dickinson Company in Holdrege, Nebraska for 9 years, was a custodian and bus driver for the Edison School, then drove the bus for Tri-Valley Health Systems until her retirement at age 65.
Marilyn enjoyed quilting, playing cards with her friends, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and playing the piano at church. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Edison, Nebraska.
She is survived by her daughters Bonnie & husband Ike Brown of McCook, Nebraska
Betty Amen of Holdrege, Nebraska
Cindy & husband Rick Dean of Franklin, Nebraska
Son: Rob & wife Susan Shaffer of McCook, Nebraska
12 Grandchildren & 19 Great Grandchildren
2 Great-Great Grandchildren and many other relatives and a host of friends
Preceding her in death is her husband Bob, parents, Abe & Laverne; brother Gary; son-in-law Alan Amen; mother & father-in-law Vernie and Velma Shaffer; brother-in-law Calvin Shaffer.

There will be no viewing as the family is honoring her wishes to be cremated. Memorial services will be on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 10:30 AM at the Edison Christian Church, in Edison, Nebraska with Pastor Kirk Einspahr, officiating. Inurnment will be at Edison Cemetery at Edison, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
