Arapahoe, Nebraska Marlyn J. Herron, age 77, of Holbrook, Nebraska died on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. He was born on October 1, 1934 at Artesian, South Dakota to Andrew & Marie B. (Breen) Herron. Marlyn grew up in Pierre, South Dakota. After his schooling, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1954 and served until 1957. He would then move to Hastings, Nebraska and worked for Western Land Rollers & Dutton Lainson. He married Angeline Braunagel in Yakima, Washington. He became a Star route driver, delivering the mail for central and western Nebraska for 19 years. His wife Angeline passed away on December 17, 1987. He would then marry Joann Raastad on June 30, 1994. They made their home in Holbrook, Nebraska. He loved fishing and being with family, especially all his grandchildren & great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Angeline, daughters Theresa Jeffres, Angie Nelson, Susan Herron, sons Marlyn Herron Jr. & James Herron, sister Gladys Schmidt. He is survived by his wife Joann Herron of Holbrook, Nebraska Sons: Arthur & wife Tabi Herron of Lexington, South Carolina Joe Herron of Holbrook, Nebraska Daughter: Paula Fahnholz of Dannebrog, Nebraska Step Son: Jason & wife Jess Rastaad of Tilden, Nebraska Brothers: Calvin & wife Mary Sweet of Edison, Nebraska Marvin Herron of Boise, Idaho 7 Grandchildren: Cathy & husband Robert Hopkins, of Dannebrog, Nebraska Angela & husband Allen Newman, of Hastings, Nebraska A.J. & Marylin Herron of Lexington, South Carolina Zander Herron of Hastings, Nebraska Taylor & Payton Raastad of Tilden, Nebraska 4 Great grandchildren: Jazmine Davis, Cadyn & Addison Hopkins, Zachary Newman 2 Step-Great Grandchildren: Hadley & Alexus Hopkins Condolences and personal reflections may be left at wenburgfuneralhome.com Viewing and visitation will be 1 hour before the Funeral service at the church. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 10 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. Michael Flury, officiating. Interment will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery, at Arapahoe, Nebraska. Military rites presented at the graveside. Wenburg Funeral Home, of Arapahoe, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
