Mary V. Bockerman, age 93, of Arapahoe, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center, in Arapahoe, Nebraska. She was born on January 6, 1925 in Furnas County, Nebraska to Tobias & Elsie Clara (Hein) DeVries. Mary grew up on the family farm, during school she would live in Arapahoe and come back to the farm on weekends. While going to school, she worked at Williams Brothers and Ed Lallman’s Hatchery. She attended Arapahoe High School and graduated with the class of 1943. She married Raymond H. Bockerman on September 6, 1948 at Beaver City, Nebraska. To this union a daughter was born; Barbara Ann. They made their home on the farm in Frontier County, Nebraska, where they farmed and ranched. They retired from the farm in 1971 and began to travel south for the winters. In 1981, they moved to Arapahoe. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe. She enjoyed making crafts of all sorts with the whole family. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond in 2010, daughter Barbara Ann, brothers Carl, Wayne, Jack, & Charles DeVries, sister Phyllis Alexander, sisters-in-law Diane DeVries, Marilyn DeVries, brother-in-law Richard Frogge, Harry Wilson, & Stan Alexander. Mary is survived by brothers Bud & wife Gwen DeVries of Arapahoe, Nebraska, Glenn & wife Jo DeVries of Trumbull, Nebraska, Leonard & wife Wyoma DeVries of Inland, Nebraska, Harold & wife Kathy DeVries of Lincoln, Nebraska, sisters Dorothy Wilson of Inland, Nebraska, Elsie Mae Frogge of Grand Island, Nebraska, sister-in-law Audre DeVries of Cambridge, Nebraska, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Viewing and visitation will be Friday, March 2, 2018 from 4 PM till 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Chapel, 652 Main, Arapahoe, Nebraska and prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. James Moshier, officiating. Interment will be at Arapahoe Cemetery, Arapahoe, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church or C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center.
