Maxine A. Mues, age 90, of Arapahoe, Nebraska died on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center, of Arapahoe, Nebraska. She was born on January 28, 1920 at Hollinger, Nebraska to Lon & Maude E. (Oatman) VanMatre.
She grew up in the Hollinger, Nebraska area and attended Beaver City High School and graduated with the class of 1937. She would teach for a country school northeast of Beaver City, Nebraska for a year. She would marry Donald E. Mues on November 5, 1938 at Oberlin, Kansas. They lived in Edison, Nebraska and Hull, Iowa while working as a banker. He would then farm in the Arapahoe & Edison area for 54 years. In 1960 they made their home in Arapahoe. On July 6, 2003 her husband Donald passed away. In 2007, she moved to the C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center, in Arapahoe. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Arapahoe, Nebraska. She enjoyed being a homemaker, while caring for her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son David Mues, brother James VanMatre, sisters Zelpha Wright, Ladye Parker, Francis Rhinhart.
She is survived by her daughter: Karen & husband Norman Lewis of Edison, Nebraska
Daughter-In-Law: Shari Mues of Arapahoe, Nebraska
Sister: Pauline Knudsen of Lincoln, Nebraska
& her husband Meredith Knudsen of Cambridge, Nebraska
Grandchildren: 6 Great-Grandchildren: 5

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 4, from 10 AM till 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home, Arapahoe, Nebraska. Casket will be closed at the visitation and before the service at the church. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 5, at 10:30 AM at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. Jami Anderson, officiating. Burial will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery, Arapahoe, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
