Merlin J. James, age 64, of Arapahoe, Nebraska passed away December 13, 2015 at his home. Merl was born on August 20, 1951 to Glen & Norma (McConnell) James at Norton, Kansas.
Merl started school in Hendley, Nebraska and then went to Holbrook Public Schools in Holbrook, Nebraska. He accepted the Lord as his Savior at an early age. He lived for a short time in Idaho, working at a window and storm door manufacturer. He would come back to the Arapahoe area and work for different farmers. In later years he would deliver the Kearney Hub in the Arapahoe area.
Merl enjoyed fishing, camping, reading, and listening to music. He was a member of the Hendley United Methodist Church.
Proceeded in death by his parents, half-brother Henry R. Railsback Jr. and many aunts, uncles, cousins.
He is survived by brothers: Melvin & wife Sharon James of Axtell, Nebraska
Mike James of Arapahoe, Nebraska
Sisters: Dona & husband Paul Laverack of Funk, Nebraska
Bobbi Upson of Arapahoe, Nebraska
Kathy Graf of Arapahoe, Nebraska

There will be no viewing or visitation as cremation was chosen. Memorial services are being planned for Memorial weekend in 2016. Inurnment will be at Hendley Cemetery at Hendley, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe, Nebraska is in charge of arrangements.
