Arapahoe, Nebraska Mildred I. Dyer Wickham, age 93, of Arapahoe, Nebraska died on March 8, 2009 at the C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center, in Arapahoe, Nebraska. She was born on January 20, 1916 at Atlanta, Nebraska to David L. & Bessie M. (Schrum) McBride. She graduated from Holbrook High School with the Class of 1933. She went on to Kearney State Teachers College in Kearney, Nebraska for 2 1/2 years and received her teaching certificate. She taught for 3 years and after the death of her husband Harold Dyer in 1938, she worked for 30 years in Arapahoe and McCook, Nebraska. On December 25, 1946, she married Sanford Eugene Wickham in Oberlin, Kansas. They made their home on a farm southwest of Arapahoe, Nebraska. She was a Baptist and later joined the First United Methodist Church, in Arapahoe, Nebraska. She taught Sunday school for many years and was a past president of the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed the fellowship of her activities with the church. She was also a member of the Jolly Thimble Club for many years. She and her husband Sanford were married for almost 53 years before his death on October 31, 1999. She became nearly homebound and gave up a lot of the things she enjoyed. She received help from extremely kind neighbors who carried her wherever she needed to travel. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold Dyer & Sanford Wickham, Brothers Donald & Frank McBride, Sister Ruth Traupe. She is survived by her sons: John Harold & wife Dorothy Dyer of Garland, Texas Laurence David & wife Jerri Dyer of Highland, California Robert Lynn & wife Patsy Dyer of Norfolk, Virginia Brother Paul & wife Phyllis McBride of Coco, Florida Brother-In-law: Eldon "Red" & wife Norma Wickham of Arapahoe, Nebraska Sister-In-Law: Greta McBride of Ault, Colorado Betty McBride of California Grandchildren: 25 Great-Grandchildren: 24 Great-Great Grandchildren: 3 Condolences and personal reflections may be left at wenburgfuneralhome.com Viewing & visitation will be Wednesday, March 11, from 1 PM till 8 PM and Thursday, March 12, from 9 AM till 8 PM at the Funeral Home and prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be Friday, March 13, at 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church, of Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. Michael Flury, officiating. Interment will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery, Arapahoe, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
