Neal Eugene Meyers

Arapahoe, Nebraska Neal Eugene Meyers, age 66, of Holbrook, Nebraska passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015 at home in Holbrook, Nebraska surrounded by his family. He was born on July 25, 1948 in McCook, Nebraska to Victor and Evelyn (Hilker) Meyers. Neal was baptized August 1, 1949 and confirmed into faith May 1, 1962 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church north of Arapahoe, Nebraska. He attended a one room country school before attending school in Holbrook, Nebraska. Neal was active in 4-H and FFA while growing up and in high school. Neal graduated from Holbrook High School in May of 1966. After high school Neal attended Hastings Technical College where he received a degree in welding. Neal also joined the Army National Guards for 4 years after high school. On December 20, 1969, Neal married Teresa Ann Wendland at St. John's Lutheran Church in Cambridge, Nebraska. To this union three children were born; Troy, Tonya and Tiffany. Neal and Teresa made their family home in the Holbrook area, where they farmed and raised a variety of livestock for over 40 years. During those 40 years, he was very active with the 4-H and FFA while his children participated. Along with his farming Neal worked at the Holbrook Vet Clinic with Doctor Tom Maline for over 30 years. More recently, he worked as a crop insurance adjuster. Neal was also a volunteer fireman on the HEA Department for 40 years and was active at Trinity Lutheran Church as an usher and elder for many years while raising his children. Neal is proceeded in death by his father Victor Meyers, his father and mother-in-law Victor and Helen Wendland, his sister Jacquelyn Haussler and his brother-in-law Mike Gufford. Neal is survived by his wife of 45 years, Teresa Meyers of Holbrook, Nebraska Son: Troy Meyers of Arapahoe, Nebraska Daughters: Tonya (Jeff) Ingram of Gibbon, Nebraska Tiffany (Ted) Downey of Arapahoe, Nebraska 9 grandchildren, Shelbi, Melonie and Nolan Meyers, Rylee, Crayton and Jaxson Ingram and Ashton, Hilary and Trey Vargas. Mother: Evelyn Meyers of Cambridge, Nebraska Sisters: Janet & husband Les Hosick of Wellfleet, Nebraska Lori Gufford of Cambridge, Nebraska 3 Brother: Ric & wife Kate Meyers of Holbrook, Nebraska David & wife Linda Meyers of Kearney, Nebraska Michael & wife Carla Meyers of Curtis, Nebraska Brother-in-Law: Keith Haussler of Hastings, Nebraska and many nieces, nephews, & friends. Funeral services will be Friday, March 13, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. James Moshier, officiating.
