Norma Lee Hollinger, age 91, of Holdrege, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Phelps Memorial Hospital, Holdrege, Nebraska. She was born on September 13, 1922 at Red Cloud, Nebraska to Roy & Millie (Gouldie) Fair.
She graduated from Oxford High School with the class of 1940 and then taught for two years at a country school. She married Merlin “Turtle” Hollinger on February 28, 1942. To this union three children were born: Bruce, Edwin, & Gaynelle. Norma and Turtle ran the Hollinger Hatchery in Beaver City for many years before she went back to school in 1965 attending Kearney State College where she graduated with her bachelor’s degree in education. Turtle and Norma moved to Edison where she taught social science at the middle school level. Later she taught at St. Patrick’s Catholic School in McCook until she retired in 1984. She moved to Stamford in 2002 where she lived until the last few months when she became a resident at Holdrege Memorial Homes, in Holdrege, Nebraska.
Norma was a member of the United Methodist Church in Beaver City and the Edison VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed caring for her yard, cooking, crossword puzzles, and crocheting. Her first and foremost priority and love was her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Robert L. Fair, brother-in-law Roy Sulgrove, and sister-in-law Mary Fair.
She is survived by her Sons: Bruce & wife Kathy Hollinger of Logandale, Nevada
Edwin & wife Cindy Hollinger of Kearney, Nebraska
Daughter: Gaynelle & husband Vernon Blickenstaff of Stamford, Nebraska
Brother: A.J. Fair of Shelton, Washington
Sister: Marjorie Sulgrove of Shelton, Washington

Viewing and visitation will be Sunday, March 16, 2014 from 1 PM till 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City and prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be Monday, March 17, 2014 at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church in Oxford, Nebraska with Pastors Eldon Fablinger & Murray Jones, officiating. Interment will be at Oxford Cemetery at Oxford, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home of Beaver City, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
