Novella Ann Hewett, age 94, of Beaver City, Nebraska died Monday, April 6, 2009 at Harlan County Hospital at Alma, Nebraska. She was born July 28, 1914 at Deer Trail, Colorado to James and Grace (Booth) Nichol. The family moved to a farm near Logan, Kansas in 1916.
She grew up in Bow Creek Community, graduating from Densmore, Kansas High School with the Class of 1933. She married Loren Hewett on November 8, 1933 in Logan, Kansas. They farmed in the Cactus Community until they purchased a farm east of Beaver City, Nebraska. They continued to farm until 1972 then they moved into Beaver City. Novella worked for 25 years in the public at Harringtons, Maaskes, Fitz's and Kelley's Market and then Beaver City Manor. She retired from working in 1983. Her husband Loren died February 25, , 1990. She wrote news for the Beaver City Times Tribune for a number of years also. She was a very active member of Hollinger United Methodist Church at Hollinger, taught Sunday School and was Sunday School Superintendent for a number of years. She was president of United Methodist Women. She worked at the blood mobile for a number of years as a volunteer. She was an active member of Beaver City Senior Center. The list could go on and on, but her family and Church & community is what she was dedicated to.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Loren, nephew Michael Nichol, brother Leslie Nichol.

3- Grandchildren: Dawne and husband Doug Hicks of Oronogo, Missouri
Travis Smith and wife Stephanie of Oronogo, Missouri
Branden Smith and wife Kim of Neosho, Missouri
8- Great-Grandchildren: Kolbe Hicks and Addison Hicks of Oronogo, Missouri, Alexis Smith, Mallory Smith, and Kinzlea Smith of Oronogo, Kael Smith, Kanten Smith and Kynden Smith of Neosho, Missouri.

Viewing and visitation will be Thursday, April 9, 2009, 9 AM until 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City, Nebraska and prior to services on Friday at the church. Memorials to Hollinger Methodist Church or St Jude's Childrens Hospital and can be left at funeral home or at the Church.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 10, 2009 at 10 AM at the Hollinger United Methodist Church at Hollinger, Nebraska with Pastors Jane Blum and Linda Knipping, officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery near Hollinger. Wenburg Funeral Home of Beaver City, Nebraska in charge of arrangements.
