Robert (Bob) Anderson

Arapahoe, Nebraska Robert (Bob) Anderson, age 77, of Arapahoe, NE passed away on August 10, 2013 at Holdrege Memorial Home. He was born to John (Mac) and Mildred (Adkins) Anderson at the Brewster Hospital in Holdrege, NE on June 18, 1936. He lived his first 6 years near Wilsonville, NE where he started school. His family moved in 1942 to a farm just north of Arapahoe, NE. He graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1954. In 1955, he joined the Army and was honorably discharged in 1957 with a Good Conduct Medal. On August 17, 1958 he was united in marriage to Leora J. Knosp. They were blessed with four children John David (JD), JoDee Ann, Janell Laurie and Jason Mark. Bob continued to farm and operate a feedlot with his dad, as the 4th generation in Furnas County. Later, both sons joined the operation. Bob received the Outstanding Young Farmer award in 1972. In 1973, The Nebraska Jaycees awarded him the Outstanding Young Farmer Service Award. In 1976-1977 he was chosen Who’s Who in Nebraska. He was also a Furnas County Livestock Feeders member and past president, a charter member of Nebraska and National Cattlemen’s Association and enjoyed many conventions. He was awarded honorary FFA Chapter Degree, Furnas County 4-H Council member, also club and project leader for the Arapahoe Baby Beef for many years. He was past officer of Tri-State Livestock in McCook, of Security State Bank in Holbrook and past board member of Arapahoe Co-op. Bob was just awarded 50 years continuous Grange membership, Edison American Legion Post 343, served in color guard for funerals and parades and a member of First United Methodist Church of Arapahoe, Nebraska. Bob enjoyed traveling, attending grandchildren activities and visiting with friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild Austin Anderson. Survived by wife of 55 years Leora Anderson of Arapahoe, Nebraska Son: John David (JD) and wife Linda Anderson of Arapahoe, Nebraska Jason and wife Lisa Anderson of Arapahoe, Nebraska Daughters: JoDee and husband John Walbridge of Arapahoe, Nebraska Janell and husband Leon Ehrke of Orleans, Nebraska Sister: Beverly Grady of Lincoln, Nebraska Brother-in-law: LeMoine and wife Agnes Knosp of Palisade, NE. 11 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Condolences of personal reflections can be left at wenburgfuneralhome.com Viewing and visitation will be Thursday, August 15, 2013 from 10 a.m. till 8 p.m. at the Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe, Nebraska and prior to the services at the church. Celebration of Life will be Friday, August 16, 2013 at 10:30 am at the First United Methodist Church in Arapahoe with Pastor Becky Saddler, officiating. Interment will be in the Arapahoe Cemetery, Arapahoe, Nebraska with military rites given by the American Legion Post #343 of Edison, Nebraska. Memorials will be designated later by the family.
