Robert A. Schneider, age 88, of Elwood, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at the Elwood Care Center in Elwood, Nebraska. He was the youngest child of William A. and Louise M. (Siekjost) Schneider and born on the family farm in Frontier County, Nebraska on August 24th, 1933. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Eustis, Nebraska. He attended country school in Frontier County thru the 8th grade, then graduated from Elwood High School with the class of 1951. He would then meet his dancing partner Marilyn Farr of Eustis. They were married on December 29, 1953. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1954 and served thru 1956. After his time in the service, they made their home in Frontier County and decided to farm. Marilyn and Robert loved to dance and did a lot of traveling. Besides his love to farm, he enjoyed growing watermelons and entertaining at their home with watermelon feeds. They moved to Elwood in 1999 due to health reasons. Robert would say “Keep a smile on your face and a polka beat in your heart.” He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 68 years, Marilyn Schneider of Elwood, Nebraska, sisters Eleanor Nott of Holdrege, Nebraska and Lorene (Dave) Houston of Bend, Oregon. Sister-In-Law Elaine Farr of Elwood, Nebraska and numerous other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Father-In-Law and Mother-In-Law Louis William and Velma Farr, brother Carl (Lorraine) Schneider, sister Wilma (Paul) Sergel, Brother-In-Law Raleigh Nott, Floyd Farr, and Kenneth Farr, nieces Sharol Nott and Shelli Farr, nephews Paul Sergel Jr. and Kim Houston. Viewing and visitation will be on Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 4PM to 6PM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Elwood, with the family present. Face masks are required. Funeral service will be held Friday, October 29th, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood, Nebraska with Pastor James Mosier officiating. Interment will be held immediately after at Elwood Cemetery, Elwood, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to Gosper County Senior Center, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, and Diabetes Foundation.
